Paul McAlister Architects is located in a renovated stonework Barn at Drumnacanvy Road on the outskirts of Portadown. The office accommodation demonstrates how sensitive design and construction on site can enhance the quality of the built environment.
A particular feature of the practice is the depth of experience of its principal, Paul McAlister, who has worked for twelve years as a chartered architect with experience of both large and small architectural projects. Paul had worked in offices in London, Dublin and Belfast before setting up his own practice in 2002.
The office portfolio of completed projects is growing with many projects now constructed or at advanced design stage. The completion of Industrial Units and offices of the value of 2.5 million for the McAvoy Group in 2003 remains the largest completed job to date.
In recent years the demand for housing has been a major source of work for the practice with the practice being responsible for the design and planning approval of hundreds of houses throughout Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
A high level of expertise and experience, allied with comprehensive utilisation of CAD technology is required. This allows the practice to meet the technical demands of large housing or commercial projects.
The practice also specialises in individual residential design with bespoke ‘One off’ house designs. The ability to meet the need of planning guidelines and the particular client requirements makes new dwellings a particular challenge.
The goal of the practice is to provide the highest standard of architectural services, both in terms of design and quality of execution on site.
The quality of architectural drawings as produced by the practice and the quality of completed buildings should reflect the practice ethos.
